Clan Maxwell Society

Grandfather Mountain Highland Games
Grandfather Mountain, NC — July 2002

David Maxwell of Dayton, Ohio, brought a detailed Maxwell history exhibit for the Clan Maxwell tent. In the photo with him are his wife, Phyllis (left) and Maureen Maxwell Tipton of Metarie, Louisiana

Rainy weather atop Grandfather Mountain could not dampen the spirits of Maxwells who gathered at the site where Clan Maxwell Society was born. It was a special gathering this year, as all the clans paused to pay tribute to our founder, Scotty Maxwell, who died early in 2002. Scotty played a key role in the formation and development of the Grandfather games, and a memorial service was held in McRae Meadows on the Sunday morning of this year’s games.

Kenn (seated) and Hertha Green of Alabama, linked up with old friends Bill Latimore of Chattanooga (left) and Larry Long of Kingsport, TN — just a few of the Maxwells who gathered at the clan tent during this year's Grandfather Mountain festivities.
Scotty Maxwell's daughters, Maureen Maxwell Tipton and Marilyn Maxwell Malone, with Marilyn's husband Alan, were on hand to greet Maxwells at the clan tent all weekend.
