November 2000 brought an unusual gathering of Maxwells. At the New Hampshire Highland Games at Loon Mountain, NH, Mike Ramsden, Commissioner of the New England Region, joined with Jo Maxwell, President of Clan Maxwell of Canada, to host a Clan Maxwell tent. Visitors were treated to ample information about Maxwells, allied and dependent families, and, of course, Caerlaverock Castle. Visitors at the tent included Douglas Maxwell of Massachusetts and Nancy Dinwiddie Dirkes, Commissioner of the Texas Region.

Loon Mountain is located in the White Mountain National Forest and is an exquisite setting for a Highland Game. The fall colors are just starting at that time of year and the temperature is perfect for such a gathering. According to Nancy Dirkes, from Texas, a nicer group of Scots has never been assembled! She and her husband now plan to make this a part of their travels EVERY year. And with New Hampshire so beautiful in the fall, it’s a trip well worth making.
