WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

  • Members receive the Society’s quarterly newsletter, The House of Maxwell. This award-winning publication includes updates on Clan Maxwell activities, articles on Maxwell (and allied families) history, and interesting stories of Maxwells around the world both past and present. It is available electronically via our website, on a password protected members-only link, or members may opt to receive print copies in the mail.

  • Members receive an annual Membership Directory containing names, addresses, and e-mail addresses of all other Clan Maxwell Society members.  This is posted on our website’s members-only page. Members may also opt to receive a hard copy in the mail.

  • Members participate in Scottish festivals throughout the United States, representing the clan whenever and wherever Scottish clans gather. These events inevitably lead to fellowship with never-before-met Maxwells, and they allow us to display our heritage for family and non-family alike.

  • Members can participate in Clan Maxwell’s efforts to research and preserve the family’s Scottish heritage. For example, the group is currently sponsoring historical research and artistry designed to produce a visual depiction of the “lost” Maxwell Castle of Dumfries, Scotland.

  • Members will have access to the Clan Maxwell Society genealogy database when it is completed. The database is currently being developed, and plans are underway to make it accessable to members via the internet. Members also regularly publish genealogical queries in the quarterly newsletter, often leading to connections with members who have answers they need.

  • The greatest benefit of Clan Maxwell membership is simply knowing that you are part of your worldwide family, proudly remembering its colorful past and enjoying opportunities to be with others who share your blood, your heritage, and your inheritance as members of the House of Maxwell.
